La prueba de liberación de fármacos in vitro se ha convertido en una de las herramientas más importantes para el desarrollo de fármacos y el proceso de aprobación de formas farmacéuticas semisólidas . La prueba de liberación in vitro (IVRT) tiene la capacidad de reflejar los efectos combinados de varias características fisicoquímicas, tamaño de partículas o gotas, viscosidad, disposición de la microestructura de la materia y estado de agregación de la forma farmacéutica. Se analiza la génesis de la IVRT, sus principios y la relación de orden de clasificación con la respuesta farmacodinámica, como la vasoconstricción o los resultados dermatofarmacocinéticos (desprendimiento de la piel), y la evolución de los requisitos de prueba para la aprobación regulatoria.
